The Civil Bible
Proposed by Horace Kallen in 1956, documents which comprise the Civil Bible are available by clicking on a title below. The reference was found in a speech delivered by Lucius E. Burch, Jr. (1912-1996) titled "Help Return The Law To A Learned Profession." I have been unable to locate the original source of Kallen's suggestion that the great works of American civil progress become the Civil Bible. If you have information regarding Kallen and the source of this suggestion, please write.
